Increasing Your Variety With A Carrot Salad Recipe

Carrot salad recipe is rather popular in my household. Every time I cook a meal, I like to place a side salad, which almost always includes carrots. A salad helps to make the meal much more enjoyable, letting you enjoy the variety of flavours and tastes, making the overall meal much more edible, especially if the meal contains chicken, roast lamb or turkey.

Carrots contain many useful nutrients and make an ideal addition to any home cooked meal. There are many ways you can cook carrots. They can be shredded, boiled in a stew and added as cut pieces to roasted meat.

I always buy a couple of bagfuls, every time I visit the store. They are always delicious and do not taste as if they have been treated with any chemicals, as they are organic carrots.

There was a time when I stopped buying carrots, because they would smell rather odd, as if they had been treated with some strange chemicals. But when I saw organic carrots at the health food store, I put them against my nose and did not smell any chemicals, so I bought a small number of them for my salads.

I felt like a child with a new toy. I decided to start using carrots in my cooking and salads immediately. They tasted rather delicious and seem to have added more natural flavours and introduced a rather new taste to my salads.

I now seem to add organic carrots to almost all my salads, these days.

Making A Light Meal With An Avocado Salad Recipe

Avocado salad recipe can be used to create a light meal. Many of the ingredients for this recipe can be found in most food stores and you can use alternative low calorie and low fat ingredients for a low calorie version.

For example, instead of a high calorie salad dressing, you can use low calorie salad dressing. You can reduce the fat in chicken, by taking off the skin, as most of the fat in chicken is with the skin. You can also swap the mozzarella cheese for a low fat version.

Preparing the salad for your family, may provide a surprise, as they may never have tasted such a delicious and filling salad. It can be eaten as a main meal, or as a small side salad. But be warned, once you start eating an avocado salad, you may not want to eat anything else, as the meal is so filling.

It is different to a regular salad and it can be eaten on its own, without a main meal. You can enjoy it as an afternoon light meal, especially when your family is sitting outside on the deck under the shade, as it may be too hot to eat a full course meal, under the hot summer sun.

Summer is a good time to enjoy a light meal made with an avocado salad recipe.

Surprising Your Guests With A Macaroni Salad Recipe

Macaroni salad recipe allows you to create a quick and easy side meal, as an adjunct to the main meal. Your main meal may be a roast, washed down with Italian red wine.

Almost everyone I know likes pasta, there are even pasta restaurants, helping meet the demand for pasta. One of the more popular versions of pasta is macaroni. Making a quick macaroni salad will please visitors to your home.

If you do not want to make a predictable casserole side dish, then a macaroni side salad may be your best option. Especially if you have a family and you need to cook a delicious side meal.

You can always make your own variations, after you learn to cook from the standard recipe. If you want to make a low fat version, then you replace the cheddar cheese with low fat cheese and leave out the mayonnaise altogether or replace it with olive oil. There is also the option of using low calorie mayonnaise, but I do not like the taste of low calorie mayonnaise and use olive oil instead.

A macaroni salad recipe is perfect for an Italian night dinner party. You can make your own pizza, or place a party order with your favorite pizza eatery. While you are placing the order, you may think about your guests and what they really like to see at your dinner party. You may know some of your guests quite well and shared many meals together, while with other guests you may not be too familiar with their food choices.

There are a few guests who are on special diets, one is on a gluten free diet and the other is on a low fat diet. I always make gluten free and low fat meals, whenever I invite these guests to my dinner parties.

I have even made a gluten free and low fat version of the macaroni salad, by taking out some of the gluten and high fat ingredients and swapping them with alternative low fat and gluten free ingredients.

My guests were pleased with the food and some even asked for my version of the macaroni salad recipe.

Potato Salad For A Picnic In The Park

Potato salad is quite popular for picnics, lunches and other family occasions. There are a number of potato salad recipes, but the most popular is the one with white potatoes, mayonnaise and onions. Some of those on low carb diets, replace the white potatoes with cauliflower.

Then it becomes a cauliflower salad which is just as delicious. I like to alternate between the two as I am not on a low carb diet but I love the taste of cauliflower. I usually do not add mayonnaise and replace it with olive oil, as I find the taste is a lot better.

I like taking potato salad to work and eat it during my lunch break. It is a simple food. With the recipe I use, I include olive oil instead of mayonnaise with pieces of vegetables, including lettuce, tomatoes and herbs. I do not add onions, as I do not want to smell of onions while I am at work. But if I am to eat a potato salad at home or at a picnic, I always add some spring onions.

You can buy ready made potato salad from the gourmet food store or you can make it yourself. There are times, when you are late from work and you want something tasty that will fill you up, then you can go to the gourmet food store and order a potato salad.

Nutritional Information On Food Labels

Nutritional information on your food products is easy to use to stay in control of your dietary needs.

You may be allergic to some ingredients in food, so you make sure those ingredients are not in your food products by reading the nutritional information on the label.

You may want to control the amount of calories you put in your body, so you read the label and it tells you the effect of the food on your body with average daily intake.

For example, some people avoid red meat all together and eat just salads. On the salad they add a high calorie salad dressing as an appetizer. This defeats the purpose of eating only greens to lose weight, as there are too many calories in the salad dressing.

If you seriously want to lose weight, the solution is to either buy a low calorie salad dressing to add to your salads as an appetizer, or avoid salad dressing altogether.

Whenever you are buying any food product, make you read the food label, so you can always be kept aware of the content of food with detailed nutritional information.

Salad Dressings and controlling your diet

Salad dressings can contain a lot of calories and may adversely affect your diet control plans. If the only reason you are eating salad is to control your weight, then use a low calorie salad dressing as an appetizer on your salad.

Salads should contain only fruit and vegetables and with some vegetable oil and a little vinegar. If you want to increase the taste, you can add a low calorie salad dressing, so that there is no adverse affect to your weight.

You always see people who are on a diet eating salad, and you see those same people weeks later saying their diet didn’t work and that they just can’t lose weight. It might be that they do have a hard time losing weight, but it might also be their salad dressing.

Salad Dressing - add to your salads to increase taste and flavour

Salad dressing is added to salads to increase taste and flavour. Rather than eating raw vegetables and fruits in a salad, you can add a little dressing to make the salad more delicious and appetizing.

A salad dressing is similar to adding sauce to freshly cooked meat. You add a salad dressing to a freshly prepared salad full of fresh ingredients. You get the extra tangy taste when a salad dressing is added.

There’s is a wide range of salad dressings, from the popular Italian and French Salad Dressings to the Thousand Island Dressings.

In Italy, where salad is a common side dish, the dressing is simple, containing olive oil, vinegar, salt and black pepper.
