Paying Higher Prices For Top Health Foods

In urban United States, low income vegetarians cannot afford the high cost of fresh fruit and vegetables. As more people are turning away from junk food and fast food, they are increasing the demand for fresh fruit and vegetables, with producers increasing the prices to lower the demand.

As the the demand for top health foods is outstripping supply, the few farmers and producers cannot meet the demand from teaming consumers. Then, there is the problem of storage, as most top health foods are organic, are therefore highly perishable and best consumed fresh from the farm, as quickly as possible.

This makes these foods very expensive, when they are out of season. For example, fruit and vegetables can only grow in specific climates around the world and then only at certain times of the year, when there are the most favourable conditions.

These days, dietitians and nutritionists are recommending to their clients, to eat more fresh and healthy food. This has escalated the demand for top health food, because people are always looking for ways to control, monitor, limit or prevent an undesirable medical condition, by improving their nutrition and eating healthy food.
