Healthy Dinner for a Healthy Mind

Cooking is becoming a lost art, a truly sad commentary on our society. You'd be surprised to learn that even as a non-cook (“I hate to cook!”), if you just choose ingredients you like the taste of and combine them in your own style of savoir faire, you'll be able to produce a healthy dinner you actually like.

The rule of thumb in this cooking without recipes approach is simply to include foods from the major food groups. You can employ the “Dutch eater's” approach, with segregated foods on a plate that make a healthy and delicious dinner.

For example, a lean fish or piece of chicken and a little sauce, with a mound of rice and your favorite vegetables is a complete healthy dinner that beats the fast food counterpart all across the board.

For those of you who like the one-dish dinner, you're in luck. Most recipes that claim to be a one-dish meal usually automatically include all the components necessary to be declared healthy.

Boost your metabolism with the best foods!

Metabolism boosting foods include fish, leafy green vegetables and fresh fruit such as pineapple in combination with an exercise program.

Just about everyone is looking for a quick fix to their weight loss plan. Metabolism boosting foods can help give our diets a kick start but figuring out exactly which edibles are geared for fueling our fat-burning engines can be confusing.

One diet suggests that you eat protein and more protein without regards to fat intake while others preach calorie control in your meal planning.

One thing that most diet regimens do agree with is the importance of breakfast. You can turn nearly any breakfast meal into metabolism boosting foods just by eating them at the right time of day. Of course, breakfast is important because it “breaks the fasting” we do while we sleep.

During our nightly rest our metabolism slows down to accommodate our needs. Since we don’t require much energy during the nighttime hours our metabolism slows gown quite a bit.

When we eat a sensible breakfast we turn the morning meal into metabolism boosting foods that rev our engines. Some items are better to accomplish this than others.

Hot Cooking Sauce - to add flavor to your quick meals

Hot cooking sauce is used to spice up your meals. If there is a meal you are cooking and it tastes rather bland, you can definetely add taste, by adding hot sauce. Just make sure you know how hot is the sauce.

It says so on the label on the bottle. I can assure you, there is a difference between Mild and Extra Hot Sauce.

My husband and I love to use hot sauce when I cook for our family and guests. Most evenings when we get home from work and the children get home from school we gather in the kitchen and make dinner.

We are all tired after a days work and the children are exhausted after a days learning, so we all contribute in the creation of a quick meal and sometimes create cooking sauce to add to the taste of the food being cooked.

Quick and Easy Dinner Recipes to Feed a Busy, Hungry Family

Quick recipes are required when you come home after a long day at work and need to feed the whole family. You may need to prepare something that is nutritious and is on the table in no more than 30 minutes.

The evenings at our house seem to be booked with some activity or another several nights a week. Our children are involved in several activities in school and my husband and I are involved in church and community activities.

We all enjoy the things that we do, but the evenings seem very short and I find that I am always looking for a quick dinner recipe so that we can try to have a nutritional meal together. This is often a challenge, but I feel it is important for us to gather as a family daily.

The dinner hour tends to get shorter depending upon the activities that are happening. It would be very easy to grab a pizza on the way home from work or to stop for take out or order in, and we have been known to do this from time to time, but I do not want to make that our regular pattern.

Food Recipes for a Healthy Heart

Food recipes intended for a healthy heart usually have low carb, low fat and low cholesterol. Meals for vegetarians are normally the choice of those people who want to avoid heart diseases since they are low in fat but rich in fiber.

Removing meat, fish, and poultry that are high in cholesterol is usually a nice step in improving the health of your heart.

Another way to avoid the risk of such disease is to eat food recipes rich in plant-based ingredients such as vegetable and fruits bought from your local food store.

The following tips for making heart-healthy food recipes might be useful to you:
• You can sauté your foods using water or just a bit of oil. Oils like olive are believed to be healthy oil because they are able to help lessen the levels of cholesterol present in the blood. Cooking using low fat is advisable for the improvement of heart health. Example of these methods are steaming, boiling, broiling, baking and roasting. When cooking, you can also use butter instead of oil in food recipes with applesauce, juice or water.

• Eggs have high cholesterol. Therefore, instead of consuming whole eggs, replace it with an egg replacer, tofu, and banana in your recipes. But if your food recipe really needs to have an egg, use the egg whites and remove the yolk.

Cooking on a spit is an old tradition, which can be found in different cultures around the world, using various versions over an open fire.

Nowadays, rotisserie cooking is incorporated into the most modern ovens. There are many tasty recipes available for skewered meat, fish and vegetables.

Many commercial ovens use a horizontal design but some domestic ovens have these too. The vertical rotisserie, when the heat source normally comes from the side, is to be found more in the home.

Healthy breakfast to start the new day

Healthy breakfast should include cereal, low fat milk and fresh fruit. The most healthy breakfast would be when the ingredients are organically grown and are therefore free of herbicides, pesticides and preservatives.

A lot of these certified organic products are nowadays available at your local supermarket and at your local health food store. Just read the labels to make sure you are getting what you pay for.

I myself do not always eat organically grown products and don't always have breakfast. It depends on how busy I am in the morning. But I know that I should have a breakfast every morning to start the day the right way.

My daughter eats each morning, and I won’t let her out of the house without having something good and filling to start her day. I know I should have the same rule for myself, but I just can’t seem to find the will to eat when I first wake up.

Fresh Seafood Online - More Fresh than at the Fish Shop

Salmon, shrimp and scallops are not usually things you’d think about buying online. Many people have yet to make any purchase from the web so if you were to suggest that they buy their fresh seafood from the Internet they may think you’re crazy.

The biggest concern most people have when it comes to ordering food from a website, is how fresh can it really be?

You may be surprised to know that much of the perishable food that is sold online is actually fresher than what you’d find in your local supermarket. This is true when it comes to fresh seafood for your fish recipes as well.

When you purchase a piece of trout or some whitefish at your fish store, it had to come on a truck that may have taken days to arrive.

When you purchase the same fish from an online vendor, it’s more than likely freshly caught, packed up and sent via courier overnight to your home.
